Today it was revealed that the cause of an outbreak of gastroenteritis was a leaky sewer pipe. Perhaps Tasmanian authorities will insist on composting toilets near and around the oyster leases in future. Around 200 people were known to have contracted the virus after eating contaminated oysters over the easter break.

Pooh Solutions are proud to announce the arrival of a new product to our compost toilet range. The Thunderloo 1500 is a clivus design scaled down to reduce the overall height. It still has a very large internal volume, a long sloping floor at a reduced angle and all the benefits of pre-cast concrete construction. The vent flu has been increased to 150mm and a whirlie has been added to improve airflow. The trial unit has been used for over four years now without the need for a fan. It consistently produces odour free operation and excellent compost.

There’s a soaking ran falling and last months earth cracks are starting to heal up. We’re all still here, the Mayans got it wrong but it still feels like we got a second chance. It’s the day after Christmas and sloth like movements are in order. Bellies are still full from yesterdays feasting, the expanded gut linings slowly shrinking back as we digest a crazy concoction of food found in one place only at Christmas. The leftovers are in the fridge, a soggy salad and some tofu that will be a welcome relief for lunch. Funny how the healthy stuff always gets passed over.
